2022 Volleyball World C'ship: Italy beat Poland to regain title

Italy have beaten Poland 3-sets-to-1 in the World Championship Gold Medal Match to regain the title after 24 years.

Italy’s long-wait for their 4th world title eventually came to an end on Sunday, as the Azzurri silenced a packed Spodek Arena in Kato-witze, by downing the defending champions Poland 22-25, 25-21, 25-18 and 25-20 in the final showdown of the 20th edition of the tournament.

With the win, Italy are now the second in terms of most triumphs in the competition, trailing only the former Soviet Union’s haul of five championships.

Earlier, Brazil defeated Slovenia also in four sets to claim Bronze, taking their place.
