The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) warns that Iran will respond more forcefully to any future violation of ceasefire agreements or understandings by the United States and Israel.
IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebi said on Sunday that Iran’s armed forces have responded to every hostile action in the past and “will continue to do so in the future.”
“Each time the enemy violates agreements or a ceasefire, it will receive a response more severe than before,” he said.
Mohebi further said that Washington has once again proven that it cannot be trusted to honor agreements.
He said "as expected, the enemy is deceitful and unreliable,” warning that it could resort to destabilizing actions even while Tehran is engaged in negotiations with Washington.
Mohebi, however, reiterated that Iran’s armed forces remain on high alert and their response to any hostile action will be “decisive.”
His remarks came after the country’s armed forces launched missile and drone operations against eight US military installations across the region overnight on Saturday in response to renewed attacks on Iranian territory.
The retaliatory operation came after the US military's Central Command (CENTCOM) said it had carried out new strikes on Iranian soil in response to what it claimed was the targeting of a commercial oil tanker in the Persian Gulf.
The IRGC Navy said Friday that it fired warning shots at a vessel that had ignored repeated warnings against using an unauthorized route through the Strait of Hormuz.
The developments come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts, including a recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Tehran and Washington, under which the United States lifted its unlawful naval blockade on Iranian ports.
The 14-article MoU also requires the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy corridor, provided that the United States and its allies fully cease their military aggression against Iran and its regional allies, including Lebanon.
