Remembering Press TV’s cameraman Habibollah Hosseinzadeh 5 years on
Today marks the death anniversary of Press TV's cameraman in Afghanistan, Habibollah Hosseinzadeh, who lost his life in a Kabul bomb attack claimed by Takfiri Daesh terrorists in 2017.
Hosseinzadeh was confirmed dead in Afghanistan seven days after a huge bomb explosion claimed the lives of scores of people and injured hundreds of others, mostly civilians, in Kabul. He was laid to rest days after his remains were found amid a search for those missing in the aftermath of the truck bombing that claimed over 150 lives.
The Daesh terrorist group claimed responsibility for the bomb blast near the presidential palace and foreign embassies in the center of Kabul.
The precise target of the terrorist attack remained unclear, even though it hit Zanbaq Square, close to the German Embassy.
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran was also damaged in the explosion, which also partially destroyed the Iranian ambassador’s residence.
Press TV released an official statement, offering condolences to the family of its employee. The Iranian news channel stressed that Hosseinzadeh’s death would not by any means weaken its serious resolve and commitment to fully cover international events.
He was not the first member of the Press TV family to have lost their lives while on duty. Press TV’s Syria correspondent Maya Nasser as well as the channel’s international correspondent Serena Shim were also killed in the field.
Hossein Mortada, who serves as Damascus bureau chief for both the English-language Press TV and Arabic-language Alam TV, was also wounded in an attack.
