The Iranian men’s national para taekwondo team secured the overall continental crown at the 11th Asian Para Taekwondo Championships.
Featuring a field of 104 athletes from across the continent, the tournament concluded at the M Bank Arena in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on Monday.
The Iranian men's squad dominated the field to capture the team trophy, while regional powerhouses Uzbekistan and Mongolia finished second and third, respectively.
Iran's run to the top of the podium was fueled by three gold medals in the men's division.
Alireza Bakht, Amirmohammad Haghighatshenas, and Mohammad Taha Hassanpour each won their respective categories to claim continental titles.
Adding to the gold rush, Saeid Sadeghianpour secured a silver medal, while veteran competitors Hamed Haghshenas and Mahdi Pourrahnama contributed a bronze medal each to bring the men's total haul to six medals.
The individual accolades extended beyond the podium for the championship team.
Following his gold-medal performance, Amirmohammad Haghighatshenas was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament by the organizing committee.
Additionally, Iran's head coach, Payam Khanlarkhani, who led the team alongside coach Mahdi Ahmadi, received the Best Coach award for the event.
In the women's division, the Iranian squad also delivered notable performances under the guidance of head coach Atefeh Keshavarz and coach Leila Khazaee.
Youthful standout Zahra Rahimi earned a silver medal after a competitive final against Kazakhstan's Kamilya Dosmalova in the K44 under-57kg category.
Her teammates Aylar Jami, Parimah Tourani, and Romina Chamsouraki each secured bronze medals.
