The Iran Studies Conference has introduced Iran from the perspective of Iranian experts as opposed to Western accounts of the country’s culture and civilization. The biannual event brought together historians, anthropologists and sociologists to discuss different aspects of Iran's culture and civilization.

This region is a part of what experts refer to as the heartland of the world. Rich in natural resources, including oil reserves, Iran has, through centuries, been exposed to exploitation by different countries, including the US, the UK and the former Soviet Union.

Experts here believe Western media portray Iran as an isolated country and ignore its beauties. They believe there's a need to re-introduce the country to the world using the pen of Iranian experts, to shed light on the bright side of Iran, from its mesmerizing nature to its diverse culture and historical attractions.
