Trump's pledge to pull out US forces receives mixed reactions in Afghanistan

US President Donald Trump’s decision to bring home all US forces from Afghanistan by December has created mixed reactions.

Politicians believe, as the US presidential election is around the corner, Trump’s highlighting the issue of a troop pullout can be part of his tactics to garner more votes.

This comes as many people in Afghanistan - who are considered the main victims of America's longest war - welcome Trump’s decision. They say such a move will, at least, reduce the harm that people suffer as a result of US attacks and bombardments.

The possible withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan is regarded as good news for those Americans whose loved ones are stationed in Afghanistan under the name of war on terror. However, one big question remains: "Has America's longest war led Washington to achieve its stated goals as both Afghans and US troops have sustained heavy casualties in Afghanistan?" The answer is quite simple, NO!

This is because Washington's strategies to allegedly uproot terrorism in Afghanistan have failed as insecurity has grown there since the US invasion of the country.
