US raises East Asia tension with weapons for South Korea

The US authorization to export guided missile system kits to South Korea has raised the tension on the Korean Peninsula.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea slammed the move and vowed to respond with its own weapons development. And in South Korea, peace advocates criticized the authorities for accepting a subordinate role in the US alliance, sacrificing the country's security and sovereignty.
