Iran overcomes Ukraine in World Para Volley Men's World Super 6 Sitting Volleyball Competition

The national Iranian men’s sitting volleyball team has achieved a resounding win at the World Para Volley Men's World Super 6 Sitting Volleyball Competition, beating the Ukrainian side.

The Iranian squad triumphed over Ukraine 3-0 (25-14, 25-18 and 25-18) in a fixture staged at the Sadra Sport Complex in the northwestern Iranian city of Tabriz on Saturday.

The Iranian volleyball players started the opening set vigorously, and were on fire to exert their dominance. They finally took the set by 25 points to 14.

The Iranians were determined to maintain the lead in the second set. They kept pace to establish a seven-point lead, and won the set at 25-18.

The Iranian sportsmen continued to cherish their hopes in the third set. They employed an array of attacks, and the set was sealed at 25-18 Iran’s way at last.

On Friday evening, the Iran men’s national sitting volleyball team registered its second consecutive victory at the World Para Volley Men's World Super 6 Sitting Volleyball Competition, defeating the Bosnian squad.

The Iranians, who had sealed their first win of the tournament by seeing off Russia 3-0 (25-22, 25-20 and 25-17) the previous day, had to do it the hard way in an encounter against Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

The Bosnian side took the first set 25-22, before Iran overcame the deficit and won the second and third sets 25-17 and 25-19.

The European side, however, claimed the fourth set by 25 points to 22.

Iranians eventually emerged victorious at the end of the five-set thriller, and claimed the decider 15-12.

The World Para Volley Men's World Super 6 Sitting Volleyball Competition kicked off on April 19, and will run through April 24.

The event has attracted national teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia, Ukraine and the United States.

President of East Azarbaijan Sport and Youth Affairs Department, Ayoub Behtaj, told reporters earlier this month that a total of 22,000 US dollars will be distributed among the top three teams, while the best players will also be awarded thousands of dollars in cash prizes.
