Iranian chess player takes crown in Asian Youth Chess Championships

Iranian Woman International Master (WIM) Vesal Hamedinia has displayed commendable performances at the Asian Youth Chess Championship and Asian Youth Rapid and Blitz Championships in Thailand, and claimed the top position in the sporting event.

The Iranian chess player participated in the G18 Standard contests in the mountainous northern Thai city of Chiang Mai, and lifted the trophy.

Yang Yijing from China claimed the silver medal, and Indian contestant Dita
Karenza settled for the bronze.

Additionally, Bardiya Daneshvar and Asal Ebrahimi Rashti picked up two silver medals in the U12 Standard and G8 Standard sections respectively.

Earlier in the blitz competitions of the tournament, Artin Ashraf had collected a silver medal. Reza Mahdavi also pocked a bronze.

The Asian Youth Chess Championship and Asian Youth Rapid and Blitz Championships was held between March 31 and April 10, 2018.
