Mahsa Shakibaei became the first Iranian female judoka to win a gold medal at the Asian Cadet Judo Championships, claiming the under-52kg title in Amman, Jordan, in a landmark achievement for the country's women's judo.
Mahsa Shakibaei delivered a standout performance to capture the women's under-52kg crown at the 2026 Asian Cadet Championships Individuals, held in Amman on July 16-17 under the auspices of the International Judo Federation (IJF) and the Judo Union of Asia. The event brought together 176 athletes from 20 countries across Asia.
The Iranian teenager's victory marked the first time an Iranian female judoka has won an Asian cadet title, ending the country's long wait for a gold medal in the girls' division at the continental championships.
Competing in the under-52kg category, Shakibaei overpowered Uzbekistan’s Ergasheva Kumushbibi and Syria’s Almawardi Sham before defeating Taipei’s Lin Pei-Hsin in the final encounter.

According to the IJF, the Asian Cadet Championships featured competitors from 20 nations and served as the continent's premier championship for judokas in the cadet age group.
