US President Donald Trump has blamed Democrats for a humiliating defeat in the GOP-dominated Congress after Republicans were forced to pull the Obamacare replacement bill.

In a setback for US President Donald Trump, his proposed healthcare bill to replace Obamacare has been pulled off the House floor in an embarrassing blow early in his term. This came after House Republicans failed to achieve a consensus on the replacement bill.

House Speaker Paul Ryan voiced his disappointment at the collapse of healthcare bill while democrats hailed it as a victory.

Trump, however, on Friday blamed Democrats for the failure.

“We were very close, it was a very tight margin. We had no Democrat support, no votes from the Democrats,” Trump said in the Oval Office.

“I think the losers are Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer because now they own Obamacare,” he added, referring to the House and Senate Democratic leaders.

Health care experts from across the political spectrum have said that the House Republican health care bill was unworkable and suffered from fatal flaws and could lead to Americans dropping out of the health care market.

Experts agree that the bill fails to reach the objectives laid forth by Trump, which includes affordable coverage for everyone; lower deductibles and health care costs and better care.
