The Islamic Republic of Iran Army has warned that any miscalculation by the enemy against the country will be met with a “crushing” response.
Army spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia made the remarks in an interview with IRNA news agency on the sidelines of the funeral prayers for martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla in Tehran on Sunday.
“We have repeatedly stated that we are using the chance provided by the ceasefire to enhance our combat capabilities and that we will not waste a single moment to that end,” he said.
“If the enemies make a mistake, they will certainly face a crushing and decisive response from Iran's armed forces.”
The US and the Israeli regime launched their war of aggression against Iran on February 28 by assassinating Ayatollah Khamenei, alongside some of his family members.
However, forty days later on April 8, the enemies were forced to accept a ceasefire amid Iran's brave resistance, successful retaliatory operations, and powerful grip on the Strait of Hormuz.
On July 17, Tehran and Washington signed a Pakistan-brokered Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which calls for a permanent end to hostilities across all fronts and includes a commitment from both sides to hold further talks on a final agreement in the next 60 days.
Also in his interview, Akraminia appreciated people’s mass turnout in the farewell ceremony for the late Leader, saying the “enduring epic” will undoubtedly awaken Muslim nations and lead to the eradication of the global arrogance front.
“We hope that the people’s enthusiasm, combined with the pure blood of our martyred Imam, will awaken the international community, prompting all the world's nations to stand against oppression and liberate the world from the scourge of arrogance,” he added.
The multi-day funeral began on Friday with Ayatollah Khamenei’s body lying in state at Mosalla and foreign dignitaries and religious figures paying their respects. It continued on Saturday and Sunday with a public farewell and prayers, respectively.
The ceremony will continue through Monday with a funeral procession along a 10-kilometer route, followed by rites in the holy city of Qom on July 7, Iraq on July 8 and burial in Mashhad on July 9.
