Power only language Trump understands: Senior Iranian MP

Chairman of Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Ebrahim Azizi

A senior member of the Iranian Parliament has dismissed US President Donald Trump’s renewed military threats against Iran, saying the only way he can be dealt with is through strength and power.

Ebrahim Azizi, who chairs Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said on Tuesday that recent reports suggesting Trump had planned a new act of aggression against Iran and then backed off only show that he is afraid of a decisive Iranian response.

“Trump’s hesitation is rooted in one reality: he knows any move against Iran means facing a decisive military response and a united nation… Power is the only language he understands!” Azizi said in a post on his X account.

The lawmaker also refuted reports showing that Trump had changed his mind about new strikes against Iran after being pressed by leaders of Persian Gulf Arab states.

He said the only reason that might have dissuaded Trump from a new attack is his fear of a massive Iranian response.

“He obviously does not care about the mediation of the Persian Gulf state heads,” said Azizi.

The comments came hours after Trump claimed in a social media post that he had halted his plans for launching a new military aggression on Iran after regional countries, including Qatar, convinced him that diplomacy with Iran is ongoing and would yield results.

This comes as Iran has strongly rejected Trump’s use of threats to reach a deal with Iran that could permanently end the ongoing US-Israeli aggression against the country.

Iran has indicated it could agree to a deal that guarantees a permanent end to the aggression and lifts all sanctions and blockades on the country.

However, officials have warned that the US has been trying to impose its maximalist demands on Iran as part of a potential deal with the country.

Iranian political and military officials have repeatedly said the country is ready to engage the US and the Israeli regime if a new act of aggression starts, more than a month after a ceasefire was announced to stop the previous round of aggression.
