Iran has called on the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to take immediate and decisive action to stop a wave of “barbaric” attacks by the United States and Israel against schools across the country.

In a letter to Edward Chaiban, UNICEF’s Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Iran’s Minister of Justice, Amin Hossein Rahimi, said at least 50 schools have been directly targeted by US-Israeli airstrikes since they launched the aerial aggression on February 28.

Rahimi said the attacks have so far killed hundreds of children, and left numerous others wounded or orphaned.

"These attacks undoubtedly constitute clear examples of war crimes and crimes against humanity,” Rahimi said.

The minister pointed to the "brutal attack" on a school in Minab, located in Iran’s southern Hormozgan Province, where 168 students were killed on the first day of illegal US-Israeli aggression against the country.

Meanwhile, Mojtaba Khaledi, Iran’s Red Crescent Society spokesman, provided a harrowing update on the scale of destruction.

According to Khaledi, at least 19,734 civilian structures have been damaged in the airstrikes, including 16,191 residential homes.

The healthcare sector has been severely hit, with 77 medical centers—including hospitals and pharmacies—targeted and forced out of service.

He added that, according to reports, some strikes occurred while surgeons were performing operations.
Furthermore, 16 Red Crescent centers and 65 educational facilities have sustained heavy damage.

The President of Bushehr University of Medical Sciences said that US-Israeli airstrikes caused heavy damage to the medical center on Wednesday.

The intensity of the explosions near the facility damaged buildings and critical medical equipment and forced the hospital to halt operations for the time being.

He added that healthcare workers have successfully evacuated patients to another hospital, where treatment continues without interruption.

The US-Israeli aggression, which led to the martyrdom of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and over 1,332 civilians, including women and children, has been widely condemned by the United Nations and the international community.
