US-Israeli genocide watch: Rest stops, schools, hospitals targeted

Debris and damage are seen at a highway rest complex in the Qazvin-Zanjan freeway after it was struck by a missile in Zanjan province, March 6, 2026 in this picture released by Iranian media.

The criminal US and Israeli regimes have killed dozens of Iranian civilians in strikes across multiple provinces over the past 24 hours, targeting highway rest complexes, residential neighborhoods, schools and even an equestrian facility, as the civilian death toll from six days of terrorism continues to mount, Iranian officials say.

At least 30 people were killed when two highway rest stops along the Qazvin-Zanjan freeway were attacked, according to Shahram Ahadpour, spokesman for the Qazvin provincial security council.

A missile strike on a residential district in Shiraz killed 20 civilians and wounded 30 others late Thursday, while two students were killed in their home in Tehran and several schools in the capital sustained damage, officials reported. Four border guards were also killed in an attack in Khuzestan province.

The Iranian Red Crescent said it has documented widespread destruction to non-military infrastructure, with 3,646 residential units hit, 528 commercial units destroyed, and 14 medical centers struck since the dastardly terror campaign began.

A foreign ministry spokesman published a list of dozens of non-military targets including hospitals, schools, emergency bases and even a neonatal care center that he said had been hit since the start of the US-Israeli attacks five days ago.

"The Zionist-American enemy has no limits for its crimes and even attacks ordinary facilities where people gather," Ahadpour said. He reported that numerous others were wounded in the strikes and urged civilians to avoid public spaces and exercise caution.

A radio facility in Abyek city was also targeted but sustained minimal damage, he added.

Shiraz residential strike kills 20

A missile strike on the Zibashahr residential district in Shiraz, Fars province, killed at least 20 civilians and wounded 30 others late Thursday, said Jalil Hassani, the provincial deputy governor.

Speaking at a news conference, Hassani condemned the "criminal attack" by the US and Israel on a park in the Zibashahr district, stating that the enemy has targeted civilian security.

The attack completely destroyed an emergency medical services base, killing two paramedics who were on duty at the time, the Fars emergency services department reported. Municipal facilities and infrastructure in the area also sustained damage.

Hassani warned residents about a psychological warfare campaign, reporting that “infiltrators and sellouts" were going door-to-door in various cities across Fars province falsely claiming to be officials, relief workers or Basij members and urging people to evacuate their homes.

He described these movements as completely false and designed to spread fear and disrupt public order.

Schools damaged, students killed in Tehran

Several schools in the capital have sustained damage from the ongoing strikes, according to Hossein Sadeghi, head of the Education Ministry's information center.

Sadeghi told Tasnim news agency that schools in multiple Tehran districts had been hit. The Allameh Helli 5 school in district 6 suffered "very serious damage" and may be unusable for some time, while the Shahed Hamedani elementary school in district 7 sustained "relatively severe damage."

Schools in districts 12 and 7 also suffered damage but to a lesser extent, he added.

Two students were killed in their residential home in district 14 of Tehran, and several other students were wounded in the attacks, Sadeghi said.

Equestrian facility destroyed near Tabriz

In East Azerbaijan province, a structure housing horses along the Tabriz-Sufian road was completely destroyed in what officials described as a "brutal attack" by the Zionist-American enemy.

Mehdi Hami, director of the provincial veterinary department, told IRNA news agency that several horses were killed. According to preliminary reports, the structure was completely destroyed and a number of horses were trapped beneath the rubble, with local emergency teams conducting rescue operations.

Specialist teams arrived at the scene and recovered three horses killed in the bombing, burying them according to health and quarantine protocols and disinfecting the surrounding area, Hami said.

Red Crescent documents widespread civilian damage

The Iranian Red Crescent has documented extensive destruction to non-military infrastructure across the country.

Pirhossein Koulivand, head of the relief organisation, told ISNA news agency that claims by US and Israeli forces that they do not target civilian areas were "completely false."

Koulivand said a completely residential area in Tehran had been hit shortly before his remarks. According to Red Crescent figures:

• 3,646 residential and non-military units have been hit

• 528 commercial units have been completely destroyed

• 14 medical centers, including hospitals, rehabilitation facilities and limited surgery centers, have been struck

• Three hospitals have been rendered completely non-operational

• 105 non-military centers have been attacked by the enemy to date

"The number of civilian martyrs, especially children, students and even the elderly, clearly shows their savage nature," Koulivand said. "They are not even committed to the rules they themselves have established."

He said he had requested the International Committee of the Red Cross to visit affected areas in person. The organization had submitted documented reports to the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Criminal Court prosecutor and other international bodies for legal follow-up, he added.
