The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned Israeli atrocities in southern Lebanon over the past day and night, as well as the continuation of ceasefire violations with the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah.
Esmail Baghaei, on Saturday, strongly denounced the attacks carried out by the Israeli regime against Lebanon, including the Bekaa region and the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh in Sidon, which resulted in the killing and injury of more than 40 Lebanese and Palestinian civilians.
Baghaei, referring to the continued and blatant violations of Lebanon’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the November 2024 ceasefire agreement, emphasized the direct responsibility of the ceasefire guarantors, the US and France, for the crimes committed by the occupying regime.
He also stressed the necessity of immediate action by the UN and its Security Council to fulfill their legal responsibilities to stop the Israeli military aggression.
Israel began its military aggression against Lebanon on October 8, 2023. On October 1, 2024, Israeli ground forces invaded southern Lebanon, marking the sixth Israeli invasion of the country since 1978.
On November 27, 2024, Hezbollah and Israel announced a “cessation of hostilities” and pledged to implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
The resolution calls for Hezbollah’s withdrawal from south of the Litani River and for Israeli forces to withdraw from Lebanese territory.
It also states that no armed presence other than the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the Lebanese army should remain south of the Litani River.
Israel violated the agreement shortly after it was announced. It occupied five strategic points inside Lebanese territory and has continued almost daily attacks since November 2024.
These attacks have killed and wounded hundreds of Lebanese civilians and have turned the ceasefire into an empty agreement.
In a report published by UNIFIL on December 12, 2025, more than 10,000 violations by Israeli armed forces have been documented since the November 2024 ceasefire agreement, including air and ground aggressions that have breached Lebanese sovereignty.
According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health, from October 8, 2023, until the November ceasefire, the Israeli regime killed 4,000 Lebanese citizens, and wounded at least 17,000 others, most of them women and children.
