Two killed, several injured in Israeli strike on refugee camp in Lebanon

Smoke and fire rise following an Israeli strike on the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp in Saida, Lebanon, on February 20, 2026.

Israel has conducted a drone strike on the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp in Lebanon’s southern city of Saida, leaving two people killed and several others injured.

The drone strike hit the Hittin neighborhood of Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp on Friday.

Following the attack, Israeli drones continued to fly over Ain al-Hilweh, and the surrounding areas.

Last November, Israeli forces struck an open-air car garage in the camp with three rockets, killing 14 people and injuring many others.

The Friday strike marks another breach of the November 2024 ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah.

On Thursday, Israeli forces conducted multiple attacks across southern and eastern Lebanon, including border towns and areas in the Bekaa region.

In the south, Israeli artillery fired seven shells toward the outskirts of the town of Yaroun. An Israeli tank also targeted a house on the outskirts of Aitaroun with two shells.

Meanwhile, invading Israeli troops opened machine-gun fire toward the Khiam plain from the newly established Israeli position at Hamamis, before targeting the area with additional artillery strikes.

Also on Thursday, an Israeli drone dropped a stun grenade on the border town of Odaisseh.

In eastern Lebanon, Israeli warplanes carried out an airstrike on the al-Shaara hill near the town of Nabi Sheet in the Bekaa region. There were no immediate reports on possible casualties or damage.

In October 2023, Israel initiated strikes against Lebanon, which intensified into a full-blown war by September 2024. This war resulted in the killing of over 4,000 individuals and left around 17,000 others injured.

Under the truce agreement, Israeli forces were expected to withdraw from southern Lebanon by January 2025. However, the withdrawal has been only partial, with a continued military presence at five border outposts.

Ceasefire breaches by Israel have resulted in the deaths and injuries of hundreds of Lebanese citizens.
