President Pezeshkian hails southern Iran's resilience amid renewed US aggression
President Masoud Pezeshkian has praised the resilience of residents in southern Iran, describing the region as a longstanding symbol of resistance and national independence while expressing solidarity with communities affected by recent US military aggression.
In a post published on his X account on Tuesday, the Iranian president said southern Iran has historically represented resistance against colonialism and the defense of the country's sovereignty.
"Throughout history, southern Iran has always been a symbol of resistance against colonialism and the safeguarding of independence."
Pezeshkian said the people of the region are once again demonstrating patience and determination as they endure the consequences of "the enemy's aggression."
"Today, the honorable people of this land are overcoming the difficult days resulting from the enemy's aggression with patience, steadfastness, and perseverance. I stand with and appreciate these loyal and resilient people."
"Every part of Iran is my home," the president declared.
Pezeshkian's remarks came after the US military launched a fresh wave of illegal and unprovoked strikes on the country's southern coastal region.
Iran’s armed forces, in retaliation, targeted multiple sites of the US military in the Persian Gulf region and Jordan with ballistic missiles and drones.
The United States has perpetrated numerous violations against Iranian territory since April 7, when Donald Trump, the US president, announced a unilateral ceasefire in the latest bout of US-Israeli aggression targeting the Islamic Republic.
The violations continued even after Washington and Tehran signed a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding in June, the first clause of which clearly mandates cessation of aggression on all fronts.
The United States has also been trying to help vessels evade the maritime route designated by the Islamic Republic for safe and legal passage through the Strait of Hormuz by seeking to escort trespassing vessels through an illegal passageway.
Iran's Armed Forces have staged uncompromising retaliation in the face of each instance of violation, including those in support of illegal vessel movement in the Strait of Hormuz.
