What could be next after US attacks on Venezuela?

The US attacks on Venezuela have shocked people around the world. In South Korea, civic leaders voiced their opposition to President Donald Trump's actions with a warning that any sovereign nation could be next.

The US's logic is not limited to Venezuela; it can be extended to suppress labor and popular movements around the world.

Today, Venezuela is the target, but tomorrow, the government chosen by the people of another country could be the target of attack. South Korea will be no exception.

The essence of the problem lies in the hegemony of US imperialism.

For many the issue is not the record of Venezuela's government, but the blatant violation of international law with a military operation against a sovereign nation and the kidnapping of President Nicolas Maduro.

Some suggest it's just an imperial oil theft, and worry such moves erode global peace and security.

I'm a little concerned that a powerful country might try to influence other countries for reasons other than those stated on the surface, and that if one exception is made, other exceptions could be made.

That's why international law is only meaningful when all countries adhere to it.

Regarding the US move, South Korea's foreign ministry issued this statement:

Our government urges all involved parties to make utmost efforts toward easing regional tensions. We hope for a quick stabilization of the situation via dialog, ensuring democracy is restored and the will of the Venezuelan people is honored.

That response failed to satisfy many.

South Korea as an ally that has been greatly exploited must now join forces with its people to fight against the United States.

I believe that the people of the world must unite in this fight to expose American imperialism.

Trump this week also threatened Colombia, Cuba and Greenland.

Undoubtedly, analysts and courtrooms will be debating the legal justifications for the US move to kidnap and try the leader of Venezuela, a sovereign country, and take control of its natural resources and trade.

But for now, many people are wondering what will be next?
