Slamming Israel's crackdown on UNRWA
The UN chief has slammed the Israeli Knesset for giving final approval to a legislation that mandates cutting electricity and water supplies to UNRWA offices. Antonio Guterres said the new law is inconsistent with the status and international legal framework applicable to the agency and must be repealed immediately. He said UNRWA plays an indispensable role in serving the Palestinian people. The measure was passed in the Knesset on Monday. The regime also approved the revocation of the licenses of 37 international NGOs, including Doctors Without Borders. Israel said the ban, which begins Thursday, also includes the Norwegian Refugee Council, CARE International, and the International Rescue Committee. The measures were condemned by many countries across the globe as well as resistance groups in the region.
Iran's letter to IAEA
Iran Permanent Mission to international organizations in Vienna has sent a letter to the International Atomic Energy Agency in response to US threats against the country’s nuclear program. The mission warned about the dangerous consequences of normalizing such threats for the credibility of the IAEA and weakens the international trust built based on its verification activities. It stressed that such reckless actions must be condemned and perpetrators should be held fully accountable. The mission also underlined that Iran’s nuclear program is completely peaceful in nature and is being carried out in full compliance with its obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The warning came after Trump claimed in a meeting with Netanyahu that Washington would support military action against Iran if it continued its missile or nuclear programs.
