EU ambassadors summoned

Iran has summoned EU ambassadors and heads of European missions in Tehran in protest at a recent joint statement issued by the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and the European Union. Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi condemned the EU’s support for a GCC member’s claim over the Iranian islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa. He called it a violation of national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Takht-Ravanchi reaffirmed Iran’s indisputable sovereignty over the three Persian Gulf islands and denounced the politicized and malicious stance by the EU. He also referred to the claims over Iran’s nuclear and missile programs mentioned in the joint statement. The deputy foreign minister said Iran’s missiles capabilities are parts of the country’s inherent right to defend itself and guarantee regional peace and stability. He also urged the European Troika, namely France, Germany and the UK, to be accountable for their destructive conduct instead of repeating clichéd and false claims about Iran’s nuclear program.

Gaza aid Flotilla attacked

The Israeli military has once again carried out an act of aggression against Gaza-bound humanitarian vessels that aimed to break the siege of the Palestinian territory. This time, a convoy of boats of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla was attacked. The organizers of the flotilla say their vessels were illegally intercepted off the coast of Gaza. Israeli media report that 150 activists who were aboard the vessels have been detained. Also according to the Israeli foreign ministry, the vessels and the passengers were transferred to an Israeli port. Reacting to the incident, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad described the attack as a new violation of international law and another sign of the regime’s moral and humane decline. The new act of aggression comes days after the Israeli Navy intercepted the Sumud Flotilla and abducted hundreds of activists who were aboard its boats.

Global pro-Palestine rallies

Pro-Palestine protesters have marched in different cities across the world to mark the second anniversary of the genocidal war on Gaza. They called for an end to Israel’s bombardments and siege of the Palestinian territory. Thousands took to the streets of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, waving flags of Palestine and carrying banners against Israel’s killing of children and journalists in Gaza. A similar demonstration was held in Mexico City, where protesters waved Palestinian flags and chanted anti-Israel slogans. They urged the Mexican government to cut ties with Israel. In Bogota, Colombia, protesters gathered outside the US embassy. They condemned Washington’s complicity in the Gaza genocide, burning banners representing the US and Israel flags. Similar protests were also held in the US city of New York and European cities including Paris, Geneva, Athens, Stockholm, London and Berlin.
