Palestinian resistance in Gaza

The military wing of Hamas has hailed its retaliatory operation that caused casualties among Israeli forces in Gaza’s Beit Hanoun. The spokesman of the Al-Qassam Brigades said the Beit Hanoun operation dealt a strong blow to the Israeli military in a battlefield it considered safe. Abu Obaida added that the war of attrition the resistance is fighting in Gaza inflicts damage on the Israeli regime on a daily basis. He noted that the enemy may fail to get its forces out of hell in future hence more captives will fall into the hands of the Palestinian resistance. Abu Obaida underlined that the most foolish decision the Israeli prime minister can make is to maintain his forces inside the Gaza Strip. On Monday night, five Israeli soldiers were killed and nearly a dozen injured in two resistance ambushes.

US-Israel Gaza genocide

Dozens of people have been killed in fresh Israeli attacks on Gaza where death and destruction have become a regular sight since October 2023. The new strikes targeted a number of areas including in Gaza City. As a result, six dead bodies were sent to two hospitals in Gaza City. A separate attack on the central city of Deir al-Balah claimed the life of one person and injured several others. A drone attack on a road between Khan Yunis and Western Rafah killed two Palestinians as well. The death toll from the US-Israeli genocide stands at over 57,500. Nearly 136,900 others have been injured.

frustration at Trump tariffs

Many of the 14 countries affected by the US president’s tariff threats have voiced frustration, following Donald Trump’s announcement of new tariffs of up to 40%. The Japanese Prime Minister has slammed the move as “truly regrettable". Shigeru Ishiba also warned the measures would negatively impact Japan’s domestic industries and employment. Just prior to the expiration of a three-month pause on his "Liberation Day" tariffs, President Trump signed an executive order extending the freeze on "reciprocal tariffs" from July 9 to August 1. However, a UN expert has condemned this delay for prolonging uncertainty in the global trade landscape.
