Gaza humanitarian crisis

The UN says it has recorded at least 613 killings, both at aid points run by the US and Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, and near humanitarian convoys run by other relief groups.

Iran warns Israel

Iran’s Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces has warned that any future miscalculation by Israel will trigger the implementation of a debilitating plan. Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi said that Tehran had devised a paralyzing response to counter the enemy’s aggression. However, the opportunity to enact it did not materialize due to the cessation of hostilities. He emphasized that, should another provocation occur, Iran will carry out the plan without hesitation. General Mousavi vowed that Iran’s armed forces would uphold the path of the martyrs until the last drop of their blood. He also praised the Iranian people’s unity, resilience, and cohesion, and stated that their collective strength brought the enemy to its knees. Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps issued a stark warning to Israel, declaring that if it launches another attack, Tehran will no longer observe any red lines.

Marking Tasu’a

Millions of people across the world, including Iran, participate in solemn mourning processions on the eve of Tasu’a, the 9th day of the Islamic lunar month of Muharram. Tasu’a precedes Ashura, the day that marks the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hossein, the grandson of Prophet Mohammad. People across Iran, dressed in black, gather to recount the heart-wrenching events of Karbala through ceremonies and rituals that reflect their grief, reverence, and resilience. During the first ten days of Muharram, Muslims, Shias in particular, hold commemorative ceremonies in honor of Imam Hossein and his loyal companions. In 680 AD, at the Battle of Karbala in present-day southern Iraq, they were brutally martyred while courageously standing for justice against the vastly superior forces of the Umayyad caliph Yazid. The day of Tasu’a honors the memory of Abbas ibn Ali, Imam Hossein’s brother, renowned for his unwavering loyalty and heroic sacrifice to safeguard the Imam and his family.
