The so-called D-Day invasion of German-occupied Northern France on June 6th, 1944, is celebrated across the West's non-fascist World War II allies.

However, in almost every state in the US veterans marched to denounce President Donald Trump's federal funding cuts, which have a disproportionate impact on former soldiers.

Because veterans get preference in hiring, they compose at least 30% of the 3 million federal workers facing mass layoffs.

It has been reported that Trump aims to cut 17% of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

I think it's disgusting. First of all, federal employees do the job of multiple people. So you're talking about cutting far more than 80,000 jobs. You're talking about decimating a service that we depend on.

We went out here and we served this country. All of us gave some some gave all out here.

This is the most racist, most anti-veteran, and most incompetent administration I've ever seen in my life, and we have to do everything we can to resist these fascists.

Veterans Day Protestor 01

In a country that is synonymous with expensive medical treatment, veterans depend on free federal health care.

There have been complaints about the quality of care at what's known as Veterans Affairs clinics for many years, and some veterans say that the moral injury caused by recent unjust wars is just as damaging,

Especially the Gaza situation; you know, when you ask military people to do things that are immoral and against their beliefs, and the American people are good people, just like the Iranian people and the Iraqi; all kinds of people.

And then the government sends us in to break down doors and provide bombs, to bomb innocent children and so forth.

And that causes moral injury and PTSD.

Veterans Day Protestor 02

Many veterans are outraged that Donald Trump has planned a military parade on June 14, his 79th birthday.

Its resemblance to a cult of personality and its steep financial cost has provoked a counter-protest for the same day entitled 'No Kings'.

The revolution was all about escaping and having democracy, from out of the thumb of a monarchy and a king, and for him to co-op that for his parade, I think is truly disrespectful.

And I think what he's spending $45 million when we have people who are hungry, when we have veterans that need health care, we have others who need... the immigrants need protections, and they're spending money on that?

Veterans Day Protestor 03

Veterans may be the nation's most well-organized, well-compensated union of members, but even they have been deeply impacted by the rapid and unprecedented cuts to the federal government under Donald Trump.
