US-Israeli genocide in Gaza
The Israeli military continues to slaughter Palestinian civilians as it targets different parts of the besieged Gaza Strip with air and artillery strikes. In one of the deadliest attacks, at least five people were killed and several others injured after Israeli warplanes bombed the tents of displaced Palestinians in the al-Shanti area, northern Gaza. To the south, Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians trying to reach an aid center near Rafah, killing at least two. Israeli strikes on the town of Bani Suheila, also in southern Gaza, left several fatalities. Deaths were also reported after the Israeli artillery shelled a number of areas across the coastal sliver including the al-Saka neighborhood in south Gaza. The death toll from the US-Israeli genocide since October 2023 has already surpassed 54,300. More than 123,700 others have been injured. Most victims are women and children.
Israel's Syria aggression
Israel has carried out new airstrikes on various locations in western Syria, despite talks between the two sides aimed at easing tensions. At least one civilian was killed and three others were injured after Israeli jets struck areas near the village of Zama, south of Latakia. Another airstrike reportedly hit the port city of Tartus. The Israeli military claimed it targeted weapons storage facilities. The attacks come amid indirect talks between Syria and Israel. The US has also called for a non-aggression pact between the two sides. Israel has intensified its military strikes and conducted several incursions into Syria since the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad in December.
Iran nuclear rights
Iran’s foreign minister says the country will resist hegemonic demands during indirect talks with the US over its nuclear program. Araghchi continued that Western efforts to halt Iran’s enrichment are tantamount to forcing the nation into submission and that’s something Iranians will never accept. He emphasized that Iran has the right to peaceful nuclear technology as any other nation under international law. The top diplomat reiterated that Iran rejects nuclear weapons. Araghchi stressed that Iran’s future generations should not be deprived of access to peaceful nuclear energy merely on the basis of some Western countries’ unjustified concerns.
