US-Israel genocide in Gaza
More Palestinians have fallen victim to Israel's air and artillery strikes in Gaza, as the regime's genocidal war rages on unabated across the besieged territory. The latest attacks targeted the town of Beit Lahia and al-Mawasi refugee camps. According to the Palestinian health ministry, nearly a dozen people including several children were killed on Thursday. The body of a child who went missing two days ago after an Israeli strike on a school, housing displaced people in Al-Bureij camp has been found. Israel launched its genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023. More than 52,600 Palestinians, mostly women and children have been killed since then.
Closure of UNRWA schools
Israel has officially closed six UN schools for children of Palestinian refugees in East al-Quds. Witnesses say the regime forces raided the UNRWA-run schools in Shuafat camp, issuing closing orders and demanding students and staff to evacuate the premises immediately. The move comes after Israel banned the UN agency for Palestinian refugees from operating in the occupied territories following a long campaign against the agency. This will leave nearly 800 Palestinian children across east al-Quds without education. UNRWA has slammed the move, calling it a violation of the international law. The Palestinian Authority has also condemned the closure of schools. UNRWA is the main provider of education and health care to Palestinian refugees across east al-Quds, which Israel occupied in the 1967 war.
India-Pakistan tensions
India and Pakistan have once again exchanged fire along the de facto border in contested Kashmir as tensions continue to escalate between the nuclear-armed neighbors. The Indian army reported that Pakistani posts opened unprovoked fire across the Line of Control, using small arms and artillery in multiple areas. Meanwhile, Pakistan's military says 25 Indian drones have been shot down at multiple locations across the country, including Lahore. The Pakistani military added that one civilian was killed and four soldiers were injured as a result of the shelling. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has vowed to avenge the death of Pakistanis killed in India’s attacks. The clashes prompted the closure of the airports in both the countries' resulting in the suspension of passenger flights. At least 45 deaths have been reported from both sides of the border following Wednesday's violence.
