Anti-Israeli operation
An anti-Israeli operation, involving stabbing and shooting, has taken place in the occupied city of Haifa. Local officials say the incident left at least two Israelis dead and four others wounded, some in critical condition. Some Israeli media have even reported higher numbers of causalities. The operation took place in a bus station and the assailant has been reportedly shot at the spot. Such operations against Israel have been on the rise since October 7, 2023, when the regime launched its genocidal war on Gaza. The Israeli regime’s violence has also escalated in the West Bank and elsewhere in the occupied territories since the implementation of the ceasefire deal.
‘Muslims get united on Gaza'
Iran says the upcoming ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is an opportunity to adopt a decisive stance against plots to expel the people of Gaza to neighboring countries. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil says the US and Israel are pursuing an ethnic cleansing plot in occupied Palestine. He says such plots are a continuation of Israel’s 16-month genocide in Gaza. He touched on the instructions by US congressional officials to Republicans to avoid using the name, West Bank, in Palestine. Baghaei said such moves do not change the reality on the ground. He said the West Bank is part of the historic Palestine and belongs to Palestinians. The spokesman added that such moves show US’s complicity in the ongoing genocide and crimes against humanity in Palestinian territories.
Ukraine’s NATO membership
Following a contentious exchange with US President Donald Trump in Washington, Volodymyr Zelensky has said that it would not be easy to replace him as Ukraine's president. Talking to British media, Zelensky repeated his offer to step down in exchange for Ukraine becoming a NATO member state. The Ukrainian president’s meeting with his US counterpart ended in disaster on Friday, after the two leaders engaged in a shouting match. Zelensky has been calling for Ukraine to be given NATO membership as part of any deal to end the war, but the Washington-led alliance has been reluctant to make a pledge. Three years ago, Russia had also cited potential Ukrainian membership in NATO as a reason for the conflict.
