'MoU must be nullified'
A group of Iranian lawmakers calling for the termination of the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States and the passage of legislation enforcing Iranian authority over the Strait of Hormuz. A statement signed by around 180 lawmakers calls for the establishment of a special parliamentary committee to review the negotiations and agreements and oversee their compliance with the conditions outlined by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. It also calls for pursuing vengeance for the martyrs of US-Israeli imposed wars, as well as providing comprehensive support for the armed forces. The lawmakers urged the government to adopt a firm stance in response to the US President’s declaration of the MoU as void. The statement expresses strong support for armed forces' role in the assertion of Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.
'Hormuz won't reopen by force'
Iran says the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened through US military pressure or aggression. Army spokesman, Brigadier General Mohammad Akrami-nia, says the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened only if the rights of the Iranian nation are respected. He urged Washington to honor its obligations under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding. Meanwhile, Iran’s Persian Gulf Strait Authority has slammed United States’ interfering with traffic through the strategic waterway. The authority said before the US escalated tensions in the region, 200 non-Iranian vessels had transited the strait in coordination with Iran. Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz after the US resumed strikes on southern Iran in violation of the MOU calls for cessation of war.
Israel Gaza genocide
The Israeli regime continues committing crimes across Gaza, killing more Palestinians in defiance of a ceasefire agreement with Hamas. Nine Palestinians, including a child and a woman have been killed in the Israeli regime’s recent attacks against different areas in Gaza. According to local sources, at least seven Palestinians also lost their loves after the regime's warplanes bombed the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. Israeli artillery shelled areas west of Rafah in southern Gaza as well. Medical officials say a Palestinian man has succumbed to the wounds he sustained several days ago in a drone strike on Khan Yunis. Since the ceasefire took effect in October last year, over one-thousand and one-hundred people have been killed in Gaza. The death toll from the genocidal war since October 2023 stands at over 73,200.
