U.S.-Israeli genocide in Gaza

Israel keeps pounding Gaza, killing more Palestinians in fresh attacks on the besieged territory. Twelve civilians lost their lives in air raids on several neighborhoods of Gaza City. Another Israeli strike killed a woman and injured several others in a refugee camp in central Gaza. In the flashpoint city of Rafah, Israeli gunfire claimed the life of a young man. The Israeli artillery also shelled tents for the displaced people near Rafah’s al-Mawasi area, causing several casualties. Meanwhile, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees says Israel has bombed around 70 percent of schools sheltering displaced Gazans. The US-Israeli genocide in Gaza has killed nearly 37,600 people since October 7, 2023. The majority of those killed are women and children.

Yemen anti-Israel operations

Yemen’s Armed Forces have targeted two ships in the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean in retaliation for the Israeli massacres in Gaza. According to a statement by the Yemeni army, the first ship was directly hit in the Red Sea, using an uncrewed surface boat. The ship was previously hit by Yemeni ballistic missiles in the Arabian Sea on Saturday. The second Yemeni operation targeted another ship in the Indian Ocean with a number of cruise missiles. The Yemeni statement says the two vessels were hit because they violated a ban imposed by Sana’a on entry of vessels to ports in the occupied Palestine. The ban stipulates that all ships heading to the ports in the occupied Palestinian territories are considered targets. Sana’a vowed that it will continue retaliatory operations as long as Israel keeps committing genocide in Gaza.

Iran-Bahrain relations

Iran and Bahrain have agreed to start talks aimed at restoring ties. According to a joint statement by the countries’ foreign ministries, Tehran and Manama will establish the required mechanisms to begin talks on how to resume political relations. The statement described Iran-Bahrain relations as historical, saying the two countries enjoy religious bonds and have mutual interests. It was issued after a meeting between Iran’s acting foreign minister and his Bahraini counterpart in Tehran. In early June, the king of Bahrain expressed willingness to resume diplomatic ties with Iran during a meeting with the Chinese president in Beijing. The king said Manama believes in the principle of good neighborliness. Back in 2016, Bahrain followed suit with Saudi Arabia in severing ties with Iran. Riyadh restored relations with Tehran in March 2023.
