Israel-Hamas deal

A third phase of the exchange of Palestinian prisoners and Israeli captives held by Hamas under a truce deal is underway. Hamas has released 13 Israelis and four foreign nationals in the first step. In return, 39 Palestinian inmates are expected to be released later tonight. In the first two days of the exchange, a total of 26 Israelis, 78 Palestinians, 14 Thais, and one Filipino were released. Hamas says 50 captives are to be freed in return for 150 Palestinian women and children in Israeli jails in total under the truce deal. The resistance group says it is ready to release all captives if all Palestinian prisoners are released.

Fragile Gaza truce

In the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian farmer has been killed by Israeli forces on the third day of the truce between Israel and the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas. The Palestinian Red Crescent said the man was killed during an attack on the al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza. Another farmer was also injured. On Friday, two Palestinian men were killed during the truce as well. Despite the ceasefire currently in effect, the Israeli army has once again warned Palestinians not to travel towards the northern Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, the armed wing of Hamas, the Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades says the commander of its northern brigade and three other military leaders were killed during Israeli attacks in the past 50 days.

Israel West Bank killings

A funeral procession has been held in the occupied West Bank for five Palestinians killed in the latest Israeli raid in Jenin. Mourners condemned Israel’s crimes and called on the international community to take action. Regime forces raided Jenin early on Sunday, firing indiscriminately at the residents. They also encircled the city’s hospital. The attack left five people dead. Three other Palestinians were also killed in Nablus, El-Bireh, and Qabatiya. Nearly 340 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli settlers and forces in the occupied West Bank since October 7. The Islamic Jihad movement says Israel’s actions are aimed at exterminating Palestinians and implementing the regime's displacement plan and settlement expansion
