Former Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi possessed an “untiring spirit” and always placed service to the people above personal considerations, a top Iranian commander says, describing his management style as being founded on justice, efficiency, and close engagement with the public.
Commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters Major General Ali Abdollahi made the remarks on Wednesday in a message commemorating the second anniversary of the martyrdom of ex-Raeisi and his entourage as well as paying tribute to all Martyrs of Service.
“They were deeply devoted to the people; they lived simply, strove tirelessly without seeking appreciation, and, under the most difficult circumstances, kept hope alive in the heart of society. They were men who regarded responsibility as a divine trust and service as the noblest duty of leadership,” General Abdollahi stressed.
Raeisi and his companions, including the then Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, were killed in an unfortunate helicopter crash in the mountains in East Azarbaijan Province in northwestern Iran on May 19, 2024, while returning from the inauguration ceremony of the Qiz Qalehsi Dam.
“Martyr Ayatollah Raeisi, with an untiring spirit, always gave priority to the arena of service over any personal considerations, and his managerial approach rested on three pillars: justice, efficiency, and being close to the people,” General Abdollahi added.
Following the shocking incident and the death of the country’s president, martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei announced five days of public mourning.
“Martyr Raiesi sought justice in the fair distribution of opportunities and in attending to the various segments of society. He gave meaning to efficiency through persistent follow-up of affairs and active field presence; and he demonstrated closeness to the people not merely in words, but in his daily conduct and way of life,” General Abdollahi further said in his message.
In his concluding remarks, the senior Iranian commander also stressed that the late president demonstrated that one can stand at the highest levels of responsibility while at the same time remaining humble and accountable.
