The main phase of Iran, China and Russia joint maritime exercise dubbed “Combined Maritime Security Belt exercise 2023” has kicked off in Iran’s territorial waters in the north of the Sea of Oman. In the first part of the exercise, different units of Islamic Republic of Iran’s navy, the Islamic Revolutions Guards Corps navy and participating vessels of Russia and China conducted different types of maritime exercises.

First, the night shooting operation at aerial targets, which is one of the most important naval exercises, was successfully carried out by the participating units. After that, the naval units practiced Morse communication.

In the morning, vessels of Iran, China and Russia led by an Iranian destroyer fired at predetermined surface targets in the sea. At the end of first day, the navy units of the three nations conducted the photo EX exercise including the formation and arrangement of the offensive.

Iran says this trilateral exercise would improve the maritime cooperation of the participating countries.

The helicopters of the Navy of the Islamic Republic Army and the IRGC supervised and aerially monitored the region in all stages of the exercise.

The exercises are the latest in joint drills by Iran, Russia and China. Iran says all regional countries are most welcomed to take part in the next drills because they are the ones who are in charge of establishing security in the region.
