'Israeli apartheid'

A leading social justice movement that seeks to end the oppression of Palestinians has come down hard on Israel for its recent harsh crackdown in the West Bank. The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement also called on the United Nations to take action to end Israel’s violence and impose sanctions on the regime. The group slammed the European Union for its stance towards Israel’s assault against Palestinians. It said Israeli fascists mount a violent pogrom against Palestinians but the EU calls for calm. Israel has intensified its crackdown on Palestinians in the occupied territories over the past days. The regime’s forces have wounded hundreds of Palestinians and arrested dozens.

US Iran sanctions

Iran says US sanctions must be removed in practice not on paper as it once again dismisses any sequencing mechanism to revive the 2015 nuclear deal.

EU Astrazeneca legal action

The European Commission says it has lodged legal action against the British-Swedish pharmaceutical company, AstraZeneca, over delivery of coronavirus vaccines. In response, Astrazeneca said the legal action is without merit, stressing that it has fully complied with its agreement with the European commission. The company also vowed to put up a strong defense in court. Under an advance purchase deal, Astrazeneca had agreed to deliver 180 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to the EU in the second quarter of 2021. However, the company said last month that it would deliver only one-third of the agreed jabs. The firm blamed the delays in its supplies on technical problems at its manufacturing plant in Belgium.
