US MoU violations

Iran says the US has totally wrecked the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding by re-imposing the naval blockade against the country and violating its commitments. This, according to Iran's deputy foreign minister, Kazem Gharibabadi. Gharibabadi said the US has breached all of its commitments under the preliminary agreement between the two countries. He added that the core of the MoU was an immediate and permanent end to war and a halt to conflicts in all fronts, including in Lebanon. Gharibabadi said Iran did notabandon and disrupt the diplomatic process, but will never request a new round of talks with the US due to Washington’s criminal actions. He said the US is gravely mistaken if it thinks that it can force Iran to sit for new negotiations through escalation of pressure and military measures. Gharibabadi stressed that Iran's response to any large-scale US aggression should not be proportionate, but must be regret-inducing and deterrent.

Iran retaliatory operation

The Iranian Army says it has launched a barrage of retaliatory drone strikes at US military bases and assets in the region. In a statement, the Army said its explosive drones struck the al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan. It added that the targeted areas included F-18 fighter jet hangars, military personnel’s accommodations, and a large warehouse for military equipment used by US forces. The Iranian Army stressed that the operation reinforces the message that the era of ‘Hit and Run’ is over, and no aggression against the country will go unanswered, and will come at a price. This is the seventh round of the Iranian Army’s drone strikes against US bases and military facilities in the region since Washington violated the ceasefire with Iran and resumed fresh attacks against the country. The Iranian Army says its operations will continue until final victory.

Plight of Palestinian abductees

Palestinian rights organizations and former abductees have launched an international campaign to document and raise awareness about sexual violence against abductees in Israeli prisons. The campaign is coordinated by Youssef al-Amayreh, who was released from an Israeli jail in January after spending two years in custody. He said the initiative has already collected dozens of testimonies from former abductees saying they were subjected to sexual violence and abuse. He urged former abductees, who experienced sexual violence, to come forward and speak out. Amayreh said legal committees comprising lawyers, judges and specialists will be established in countries around the world to pursue accountability. He added that the campaign is aimed at exposing the crimes committed against Palestinian abductees and end Israel's policy of impunity. Palestinian and international human rights organizations have repeatedly raised concerns over torture, ill-treatment and degrading conditions in Israeli detention facilities, particularly since the Gaza genocide started in October 2023.
