Johnson fails to condemn Trump’s unfounded allegation of cheating in US election
As the US Presidential election hangs on a knife-edge, Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has steadfastly refused to condemn his ally across the Atlantic, Donald Trump, over his unfounded allegations of electoral fraud in relation to mail ballots.
Challenged by opposition Labor Party, Keir Starmer, to take a stance on US President Donald Trump’s call to discontinue vote counting in battleground states, Johnson was uncharacteristically tight lipped.
“We don’t comment as the UK government on the democratic processes of our friends and allies”, Johnson retorted in the House of Commons.
Starmer pressed home his advantage by proclaiming that the next president of the United States must be the “free and fair” choice of the American people.
Johnson, who has a close working relationship with the US president, is regarded by some political analysts as Trump’s ideological compatriot.
Furthermore, Johnson has reportedly never met Democratic Party contender, Joe Biden, and is understandably nervous about his potential victory.
