Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf has expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s support during the latest round of US-Israeli aggression.

During a meeting with Pakistan Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani on Saturday, Qalibaf said friendly nations stand by one another in difficult times.

“We have always been grateful to the people and officials of Pakistan for their support, including during the Ramadan War,” he said.

Qalibaf met with Gilani on the sidelines of the farewell ceremony and funeral procession for the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

During the meeting, Gilani extended his condolences to the Iranian people and leadership over the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei and recalled his numerous visits to Tehran over the years.

He said many of those visits took place while Iran was under the leadership of Ayatollah Khamenei and that he had witnessed significant developments and progress in the country during that period.

“Having witnessed Iran’s progress over the years, I see a bright future for the country, and as Iran continues to advance, peace and stability across the region will also move forward,” he stated.

The Pakistani Senate chairman also stressed the importance of expanding parliamentary cooperation, saying there were broad opportunities to strengthen ties between the two legislatures through closer engagement between officials and greater people-to-people exchanges.

“There are many opportunities for cooperation between our two parliaments, and stronger people-to-people ties can further deepen bilateral relations,” he added.

Forty days after the second US-Israeli aggression against Iran, Pakistan helped broker a ceasefire between Tehran and Washington, paving the way for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
