Israel dragging US into war with Iran: Analyst
Israel is dragging the United States into war with Iran, according to a former US Senate candidate.
Mark Dankof, who is also a broadcaster and pastor in San Antonio, Texas, said there was no reason for the Americans to wage war against Iran.
Iran has always acted in good faith and it has kept its end of the bargain in the internationally- agreed nuclear deal, officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Dankof told Press TV in an interview on Tuesday.
He said the JCPOA was a solid deal and "the United States has illegitimately pulled out of this deal, unilaterally."
"The United States has imposed sanctions on Iran. It has engaged in other war-like activities against Iran," he said.
Dankof pointed out that the US engaged in belligerent activities against Iran despite the fact that the Iranian side had acted according to deal.
He said US President Donald Trump was wrong to pull the US out of the deal.
Trump simply needs to admit that he has been wrong, Dankof said.
Tail wagging the dog
Israel and its supporters in the US government are luring Trump into war with Iran, according to Dankof.
"This is the problem here: Israel is the tail that is wagging the dog," he said, adding, "Israel is dragging the United States into this entire new round of quagmire in the Middle East."
He said Trump needed to get rid of all the pro-Israeli agents - such as Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and national security adviser John Bolton -- that were advising him in US foreign policy.
Dankof added that it is about time that the American people across the political spectrum said enough was enough in terms of having this Israeli fifth column in the United States controlling the government, controlling the president, controlling Capitol Hill, controlling the national security agencies, and controlling the American news media.
"This is the heart of the problem," he said. "Mr. Trump is not running an America first policy as he promised. He is letting the Zionist Israelis dictate American policy."
"Mr. Trump entirely is in the wrong in this situation along with his chief advisers who want a war for Israel," he noted.
Dankof pointed out that this war is not in any one else’s interest, including Mr Trump. "It is terrible and it’s sickening," he said.
