Iraqi officials have slammed U-S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s unannounced visit to Baghdad amid rising tensions with Iran. Pompeo’s surprise visit came on the eve of the first anniversary of President Trump’s withdrawal from a landmark nuclear agreement with Iran. The US has ordered the deployment of an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf amid its increasingly belligerent rhetoric against Tehran.
