Sisi sacrificing Egyptians' interests to those of US, Israel: Pundit

The government of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi does not represent the aspirations of the Egyptian nation, says a commentator.

On Tuesday, Egypt's legislators voted in favor of a number of constitutional amendments that would extend the rule of President Sisi, and would allow him to stay in power until 2030.

To discuss the change of constitution in Egypt, Omali Yeshitela, chairman of the African People’s Socialist Party, told Press TV on Wednesday that Sisi has been supported by the "illegitimate" regimes in Israel and the United States to come to power. He, the analyst added, functions as part of the anchor of the interest of the US government.

So, “the interest of the people of Egypt [has] been sacrificed to the interest of the US and Israel,” Yeshitela said. “This illegitimate regime of Sisi ... does not represent again the interest of people of Egypt.”
