Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers stand first in Martyrs Cup

The national Iranian junior Greco-Roman wrestling A team has put in impressive displays of grappling skills at the Martyrs Cup, and been crowned as the champion of the international sports event.

The young Iranian wrestlers outmuscled their Russian counterparts 6-4 in their final meetings at multi-purpose Enghelab Sports Complex in Karaj, situated 35 kilometers west of the Iranian capital Tehran, and immersed spectators and wrestling enthusiasts worldwide into applause.

Iran Tose'eh finished in the third place after defeating Iran Alborz in the bronze-medal playoff.

Azerbaijan ended in the fifth place after downing Iran B, and Georgia stood seventh after emerging victorious from its match with Kyrgyzstan.

Greco-Roman wrestling bouts at the Martyrs Cup started on November 28, and finished on November 29, 2017.

The competitions brought together junior wrestlers from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Russia, Syria and Turkey.
