Iran condemns US criminal aggression, vows to strike origins of attacks

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the criminal military aggression carried out by the United States against Iran over the past 24 hours.

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the criminal military aggression carried out by the United States against Iran over the past 24 hours.

The ministry issued a statement on Sunday night in which it described the US attacks as “savage” and a blatant violation of the fundamental principles of the UN Charter, particularly Article 2(4).

It warned that these assaults not only threaten international peace and security but have also destroyed months of efforts to reduce tensions and restore calm across West Asia.

The statement noted that only 25 days after the signing of a ceasefire agreement to end the war, the US regime has flagrantly violated nearly every element of the deal.

American forces deliberately targeted Iran’s transportation infrastructure, fishing boats, cargo vessels, and meteorological facilities and buildings, committing some of the most heinous war crimes.

Washington’s regime also openly interfered in Iran’s legitimate arrangements to secure the Strait of Hormuz, deliberately returning insecurity to this vital waterway and disrupting international commercial shipping.

At the same time, the US terrorist army’s use of territory and facilities belonging to countries on the southern coast of the Persian Gulf has effectively turned those nations into arenas for its illegal and criminal war against the Iranian people.

Reaffirming its determination to defend Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against US aggression and any other aggressor, the Foreign Ministry issued a stern warning against any participation or cooperation with the aggressors.

It reminded neighboring countries of their obligations under international law to prevent the use of their territory and facilities for attacks on Iran, emphasizing that the sources and origins of any aggression against the Islamic Republic will become legitimate targets for defensive strikes by Iran’s brave armed forces.

The ministry also exposed the US establishment’s ongoing campaign of lies and disinformation aimed at distorting facts and justifying its violations.

It categorically rejected as “pure falsehoods born of desperation” the claims made by the US president regarding the outcome of Saturday’s talks in Muscat.

The statement clarified that the Muscat negotiations focused on arrangements for managing the Strait of Hormuz and transit routes, but the US, through open and hidden pressure on Oman, prevented any agreement from being reached.

Expressing regret over the UN Secretariat’s unconstructive approach to America’s clear law-breaking and bullying, the ministry called on the UN secretary general and the Security Council to fulfill their responsibilities regarding the violation of international peace and security.

It demanded that the aggressors be held accountable and that the masterminds and perpetrators of crimes against the Iranian nation be punished.

Iran has restricted transit through the Strait of Hormuz since the early days of the illegal US-Israeli aggression that began on February 28 and came to a halt under a ceasefire on April 8 amid the Islamic Republic’s brave resistance and successful retaliatory operations.

On June 17, Iran and the US signed the MoU, which calls for a permanent end to hostilities across all fronts and includes a commitment from both sides to hold further talks on a final agreement in the next 60 days.

The deal’s Article 5 places responsibility for reopening and managing the Strait of Hormuz squarely in Iran’s hands.

Iran has repeatedly stressed its legitimate right to sovereignty over the strait, noting that the waterway will never return to its pre-war conditions and that it will be administered by the Islamic Republic in accordance with international law.
