Honoring martyred Leader

Iran has delayed the final funeral procession and interment of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in the holy city of Mashhad. The delay was declared after funeral processions in Iraq extended beyond their primary schedules amid massive participation of millions of mourners. The final funeral procession was originally scheduled to begin early Thursday morning. However, the massive turnout in the holy Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala prompted organizers to postpone the event until 2 p.m, local time. Wednesday’s funeral processions in Iraq witnessed unprecedented participation by mourners, officials, resistance leaders, and tribal representatives. In Karbala, mourners escorted the coffin of Ayatollah Khamenei to the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS). Iraqi officials said at least four million people attended the procession in the city alone. The funeral in Karbala followed another massive procession earlier the same day in Najaf, where funeral prayers were held at the shrine of Imam Ali (AS). The events in Iraq followed huge processions in the Iranian capital and the city of Qom. Ayatollah Khamenei and several members of his family were martyred in a US-Israeli strike on February 28.

Slamming Trump threats

Iranian officials have strongly slammed US President Donald Trump's latest insults and threats against the nation, stressing that his vulgar remarks cannot diminish the greatness of Iranians. Iran’s deputy foreign minister said Trump’s rhetoric is not a sign of power, but reflects the failure of Washington in its bid to bring the Iranian nation to its knees through a long-standing policy based on force, sanctions, and threats. Kazem Gharibabadi said a “criminal and murderer” like Trump must be spoken to in his own language, adding that he seems to understand the language of force better. His remarks came after Iran's foreign minister responded to Trump’s derogatory language, stressing that Iranians do not answer vulgarity with vulgarity, but with fearless action and great valor. Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman also reacted to Trump’s insulting remarks, saying his threats violate Paragraph 5 of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding. Esmaeil Baghaei stressed that Iran will firmly defend its national interests and sovereignty.

US aggression

The United States has carried out a new round of unprovoked attacks on southern Iranian regions, in another clear violation of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington. Several cities along Iran’s southern coastline came under attack, causing damage to civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, power grids, and fishing ports. In Sistan and Baluchestan Province, a firefighter was reportedly killed in an attack on Iranshahr Airport. In the coastal city of Chabahar, a direct strike on the power grid left large parts of the city without electricity, while two hospitals were reportedly damaged. Explosions were also reported in Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Jask, and on Abu Musa Island in Hormozgan Province, as well as several areas in Bushehr Province. One of the attacks on Bushehr Province hit an air defense site near the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. There are also reports of an attack on a railroad bridge in northern Iran. The attacks came following US President Trump's threats to resume strikes on Iran after falsely accusing the country of being involved in recent attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran has vowed to respond to any aggression against its territory with resolute force.
