Eight Iranian military personnel martyred in latest US attacks on southern Iran

Eight Iranian military personnel have been martyred in the US terrorist attacks on southern Iran on July 8, 2026.

Eight Iranian Army personnel have been martyred in the latest US terrorist attacks on the southern cities of Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, which were carried out in violation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Iranian Army said the servicemen were martyred after the "criminal aggression of the US terrorist army" targeted areas in southern Iran in the early hours of July 8.

“Following the criminal aggression of the US terrorist army against areas of southern Iran in the early hours of Wednesday, July 8, eight brave men of the air and naval forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army in Bandar Abbas and Bushehr were martyred by enemy projectiles while defending their homeland,” the statement said.

The martyred servicemen were identified as Captain Ali Moeini, Lieutenant Ali Mehdizadeh, Third Lieutenant Hamed Dorai, Steward Amir Hossein Ghasemi, Steward Alireza Zarei Sani, and Steward Alireza Balideh, Steward Captain Shahab Omidi Bezi, and Sailor Mohammad Javad Ravanfar.

The Army vowed to continue resisting "until its last breath," stressing that it would avenge the blood of the martyrs of the Islamic Republic.

Earlier on Wednesday, the US military launched a fresh wave of illegal and unprovoked strikes on the country's southern coastal region.

The attacks targeted several coastal military bases as well as non-military sites in Iran's southern Hormozgan Province and Mahshahr, in an open violation of the ceasefire.

In response, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched missiles and drones at 85 US military targets in Bahrain and Kuwait in an initial retaliatory operation against the American aggression.

According to the IRGC, the strikes targeted facilities in the Port Salman area, where the US Fifth Fleet is based in Bahrain, as well as Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. The force also said it had shot down an MQ-9 drone after the aircraft attempted to interfere with the operation.
