Iran FM spokesman: Martyred Leader dedicated his life to Iran's dignity, independence
The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman says that the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, had made the pursuit of dignity and independence for Iran his lifelong mission.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Esmaeil Baghaei said that Ayatollah Khamenei had consistently underscored Iran’s dignity and sovereignty as core tenets of his philosophy.
“And this very principle is what has captured the world’s attention toward our martyred leader,” Baghaei said.
The spokesman’s comments come after massive funeral processions were held for Ayatollah Khamenei in Tehran and Qom on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
Millions attended the ceremonies to mourn the loss of a revered cleric who held Iran’s highest office for nearly four decades, before he was martyred in a joint US-Israeli attack on his office in late February.
People paid their respects to his body, along with those of four members of his family who were martyred in the attack, during ceremonies held in Tehran's Mosalla Mosque since Saturday morning.

Baghaei added that another defining trait of Ayatollah Khamenei was his resolute stance against oppression and hegemony in international affairs.
The remarks followed the spokesman’s post on his X account a day earlier, in which he said that Ayatollah Khamenei's legacy would transcend generations and extend far beyond his name and era.
“…it is a heritage of self-belief, dignity-seeking, independence-seeking, patriotism, and steadfastness against the storms of events,” he wrote in the post.
Ayatollah Khamenei is set to be laid to rest on Thursday at the holy shrine of Imam Reza in his hometown of Mashhad, following another funeral procession in Iraq's Najaf and Karbala on Wednesday.
