Funeral procession for martyred leader

Millions of mourners in Tehran have attended the funeral procession for the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and several members of his family. The funeral procession took place through the streets of downtown Tehran. Participants carried pictures of the martyred leader as well as flags of Iran. They also reaffirmed allegiance to the current leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei. The procession concluded three days of farewell ceremonies in the Iranian capital. Following the events in Tehran, the body of the martyred leader will be transferred to the holy city of Qom for a dedicated funeral ceremony. Afterwards, there will be similar ceremonies in Iraq’s holy cities of Najaf and Karbala. And finally on Thursday, the martyred leader will be laid to rest in the holy city of Mashhad in Iran. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and several members of his family lost their lives in a US-Israeli strike in late February.

Martyred leader legacy

Iran's Defense Ministry spokesman says the martyred Leader's emphasis on scientific strength and technological advancement has served as the foundation for Iran to become one of the world's top missile and drone powers. Brigadier General Reza Talaei-Nik said before the Islamic Revolution, Iran was 90-percent dependent on the West for primitive military equipment. Today, thanks to the leadership of Imam Khomeini and the martyred Leader, Iran has achieved 90-percent self-sufficiency and produces over a thousand types of domestically-made munitions. This self-sufficiency has not only neutralized sanctions but also allowed Iran to export military equipment for years. He added that the recent war proved the effectiveness of Iran's defense capabilities, and the experiences gained will further improve technology, national resolve, and export opportunities. The Brigadier General added that identifying the enemies and their capabilities is another key lesson learnt from the martyred Leader.

Israel crimes in Gaza, Lebanon

The Israeli regime continues to attack southern Lebanon, killing more people in defiance of the ceasefire and the Iran-US memorandum of understanding. An Israeli airstrike on a vehicle in the Upper Nabatieh region killed four people. Occupation forces have also claimed "operational control" over the town of Haddatha and carried out demolition operations in Kfar Tebnit and Houla. More than 4,300 people have been killed and over 12,200 wounded in Lebanon since the Israeli offensive began on the 2nd of March. The first clause of the US-Iran memorandum explicitly requires the cessation of military operations in Lebanon and Israeli withdrawal. The regime, however, has been violating the MOU on a daily basis. The Israeli military has launched fresh strikes on Gaza, killing more Palestinians in the besieged strip. At least two people lost their lives and several others were injured after an Israeli aircraft targeted a residential building in Gaza City. Separately, four Palestinians were killed when a drone targeted a vehicle in Khan Yunis. Israel launches attacks on Gaza almost on a daily basis, despite a ceasefire it agreed with Hamas last October. Since the truce took effect, more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed in such violations. And in a broader picture, the death toll from the genocidal war since October 2023 stands at over 73,000.
