Hamas: Operation al-Aqsa Flood altered all political, military equations

Palestinians are seen in the city of Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, atop an Israeli military vehicle seized during the Operation al-Aqsa Flood on October 7, 2023.

The head of political and media relations for the Hamas resistance movement in Lebanon says Operation Al-Aqsa Flood altered all previous political and military equations, stressing that the resilience of the Palestinian nation has to be glorified 1,000 days after the launch of the large-scale anti-Israel operation.

“Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, which was launched on October 7, 2023, was a turning point in the course of confrontation with the occupying Israeli regime, as it demonstrated the Palestinian resistance groups’ ability to take the initiative and bring about a major change in political and military spheres,” Abdel Majid al-Awad stated on Saturday.

He emphasized that the operation shattered the Tel Aviv regime’s myth of invincibility and dispelled the illusion of security and military superiority, which Israeli authorities had worked for decades to establish.

“During the war, the Gaza Strip became the target of all-out aggression, which impacted all aspects of life and was accompanied by killings, widespread destruction, and growing humanitarian crises,” he added.

The senior Hamas official stated that the Tel Aviv regime had set several objectives for the bloody onslaught against Gaza, including obliteration of resistance groups and imposition of a new reality on the ground; however, it was unable to attain these goals despite the passage of a long period of time.

“The steadfastness and resilience of the Palestinian people, and the retaliatory operations carried out by resistance factions prevented the occupying regime from declaring what it asserted as absolute victory,” Awad stated.

He noted that the Zionist regime suffered political, security, and military losses during the Gaza war, while Palestinians continued to adhere to their national rights and principles.

The senior Hamas official also highlighted that the Gaza genocidal war has had severe and catastrophic fallouts for Israel’s prestige.

Along with the growth of solidarity campaigns with the Palestinians and the increase in popular and legal movements across the globe, the Palestinian narrative has gained a stronger presence worldwide, Awad said.

He expressed his gratitude to all movements and parties that supported the Palestinian people during the Gaza genocidal war.

The heroic sacrifices made by Palestinians during these thousand days of confrontation will remain as a turning point in the path of the Palestinian national struggle for freedom and an end to the Zionist occupation, he concluded.

After 1,000 days of Israel’s genocide, humanitarian organizations report that women and girls continue to be among the most at-risk groups in Gaza, experiencing increasing needs for protection, health services, psychological care, and economic support.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has conducted a genocide in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of approximately 73,000 Palestinians and injuring over 173,000, while decimating nearly 90% of the region’s civilian infrastructure.
