Iran’s acting defense minister has reaffirmed that the country’s missile, and drone capabilities are non-negotiable, stressing that efforts to strengthen and expand them will continue.
Brigadier General Majid Ibn Reza said on Wednesday that Iran’s missile, and drone capabilities constitute a national security red line and will not be subject to negotiations.
In a post on the social media platform X, Ibn Reza said he made the remarks during a meeting with members of the Iranian Parliament’s Economic Committee, where he outlined various aspects, achievements, and characteristics of the Ramadan War.
Strengthening Iran’s defensive capabilities remains a strategic priority and the country’s missile and drone programs will continue to advance, he emphasized.
He added that the development of these capabilities will rely on domestic expertise and indigenous capacities.
During the February US-Israeli aggression against Iran, Iranian armed forces employed a combination of missile and drone capabilities to strike US and Israeli targets across the region.
Firing barrages of drones and missiles, Iranian armed forces inflicted significant military and economic damage on the enemies and their allies.
Following the implementation of a Pakistani-mediated ceasefire on April 8, Iran and the US began a series of negotiations which led to the signing of a Memorandum of Understating (MOU) by US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on June 17.
