France heatwave kills more than 1,000 people

A record-breaking heatwave is sweeping across France, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius over the past several days.

It has claimed more than 1,000 lives across the country. The toll includes 109 deaths reported in less than 24 hours in Paris.
