The Lebanese army says an Israeli strike has targeted an army barracks in the southern city of Nabatieh, wounding a soldier despite an ongoing ceasefire with Israel.

In a statement posted on social media on Saturday, the army said the soldier sustained moderate injuries as a result of “hostile Israeli targeting” of the military facility.

The strike came hours after the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings to residents of 10 villages in southern Lebanon, claiming it planned to target Hezbollah positions in response to alleged violations of the ceasefire agreement.

Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee said in a statement that the Israeli military was “compelled to act forcefully” against Hezbollah and urged civilians to leave their homes immediately and move at least 1,000 meters away from the targeted areas.

The villages identified by the Israeli military are spread across a wide section of southern Lebanon on both sides of the Litani River.

The ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, which took effect on April 17, has witnessed near-daily violations by the Israeli regime.

On Friday, at least 10 people, including six rescue workers and a young girl, were killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting southern Lebanon, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health.

The Israeli military claimed the attacks targeted Hezbollah fighters traveling on motorcycles as well as infrastructure used for weapons manufacturing.

Meanwhile, Lebanon’s Health Ministry said Saturday that at least 25 staff members at Hiram Hospital in the Tyre district were injured after Israeli airstrikes struck the vicinity of the medical facility.

The ministry said medical, nursing, and administrative personnel suffered “various injuries,” while the hospital sustained severe structural damage.

“This is the second time in less than two months that the hospital has been exposed to such dangers due to repeated Israeli attacks,” the ministry said, adding that the strikes represent “additional evidence of the Israeli enemy’s violation of international humanitarian law, which stipulates the protection of health facilities.”

Israeli attacks have killed more than 3,100 people in Lebanon since Israeli forces escalated attacks on the country on March 2.
