‘Don’t complain later’: Iran MP warns Persian Gulf states to expel US forces

The spokesman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Ebrahim Rezaei

The spokesman for Iran’s Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission has warned Persian Gulf Arab states that they must expel American troops from their territory ahead of any potential US military action against Iran.

“For as long as [US President Donald] Trump has given time for the next attack, the regional countries have the same amount of time to declare and implement the permanent expulsion of Americans from their countries—don't complain later," Ebrahim Rezaei said.

"Our plan to bankrupt Trump politically and economically passes through some of these countries," the lawmaker added.

The remarks come amid escalating war rhetoric from Trump, who has threatened in recent days to launch renewed strikes against Iran if indirect diplomatic discussions do not conclude in an agreement.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also warned earlier on Wednesday that any return to war with Iran would bring “many more surprises” for the US.

The US and Israel began a fresh round of aerial aggression against Iran on February 28, eight months after carrying out earlier unprovoked attacks on the country.

Iran swiftly retaliated by launching barrages of missile and drone strikes on Israeli-occupied territories, as well as US bases and interests across the region.

On April 8, a Pakistan-brokered temporary ceasefire between Iran and the US came into effect.

However, subsequent peace negotiations in Islamabad ultimately stalled amid Washington’s maximalist demands and insistence on unreasonable positions.
